I ran into Mandy Patinkin at Whole Foods today.

Sean and I shopped beside him calmly in the deli section, then scampered off to giggle "I am Inigo Montoya. You killed my father; prepare to die!" in the produce section.

Rock.

Facts of Life

mood: okay
music: van morrison- it stoned me
You're supposed to take the good with the bad, right? Well, then I have been mighty wonderful at taking it like a woman lately.

I have a decent job at a post production facility, working 10 hour days and bringing home enough dough to buy an item off of my budget now and again. I meet producers and directors daily who love me. My co-workers are fun and exciting people, some becoming close friends as the job treks on. I have been promoted with a two dollar raise before my three month "trial period" here at Oracle Post is even over. I have trained to assist the scheduler, and I am trusted enough to have been in charge of scheduling while our operations manager was on vacation. Soon enough, I will be purely a scheduler and assisting the VP of operations. I have met and conversed with Gladys Knight, Lisa Loeb and Caroline Rhea, which is quasi-noteworthy. Things in general are looking up.

Friday night, my purse was stolen from the studio while I was in the operations office finishing Monday's schedule. It was safely tucked behind my desk and totally out of view. The Burbank PD believes it was an opportunist that may have been watching the studio for a perfect moment and grabbed the first thing available.

At first it was laughable, since I carry a purse filled with yarn and knitting notions, plus maybe a bit over $20 USD. Then it hit me that the purse was a birthday gift, the yarn had a lot of meaning, my first knit sock was in there. Plus there was a lot of good stuff in the purse, my wallet for one, with my driver's license, debit card, social security card, two checkbooks. Not to mention the keys to my car, the keychain that Wolf brought back from a Christmas trip to Iceland, a pen from San Francisco, the drawing the my nephew made, the jade Buddah that was a gift from Mom when we last visited.

I cancelled the debit card and made a list of all the things I would need to do the next day. As I made ready to cancel my cell phone service, Sean called to say that my purse had been found with car keys, cell phone and most of my stuff. No wallet, no checkbooks and no IDs. A woman spotted it shoved behind a dumpster three streets away. It wasn't the best news, "Oh, I thought it was my purse, I was confused...", but it was better than nothing.

Unfortunately, it was Friday night. I couldn't take care of anything but the police report until Monday. Hmph!

Tomorrow, friends? Tomorrow I meet Fred Savage.

I would just like to say that I want to make sweet, sweet love to the new Mac Pro tower.

Just think of all the dirty things I could do to those graphics slots and all four of the hard... drives...

Long time
12:37pm 02/08/2006
Working a 50 hour week with 2 or more hours of drive time per day can really cut into and already slacker blog time. Just so you all know, I am not deceased and my cell number is still the same. I will try to update more often once Sean and I finish unpacking (we moved and you didn't even know it...), and I promise to post pics of our new kittens as soon as we get them settled this weekend. Hooray for the foster mother allowing us time to get settled!

Okay. I admit it. I have been suckered into a dark, deceiving world and I can't escape for the life of me. It all started out very innocently on a film set three years ago. Now I can't walk through my apartment without seeing paraphernalia and last night's remains.

I am a knitting addict.

It all began with a simple scarf, then a few for friends. After that I moved on to hats and mittens and wristlets and knit animals. I even taught a few friends and family members to knit. Now I get Christmas gifts of books and yarn, my sister is opening a knitting themed cafe in northern California, and my mother-in-law calls me when she has problems with a pattern. My husband has to escort me into yarn stores so that I don't get crazed from the stacks of baby wool, alpaca, mohair, recycled sari and cotton blends. I have four projects in the works, from a simple drop-stitch scarf to a sweater for my niece, and I have begun a knitting blog. I read The Yarn Harlot and Crazy Aunt Purl every day while sending out resumes. I have applied for part time work at The Knitter's Studio on Third Street in Los Angeles so that I can do double-duty, work for pay AND knit simultaneously. I have a problem.

Is it wrong that I just cast on for a cabled hat while writing this?

This is how I feel right now... after being rejected from one of two jobs I was waiting on. I was, yet again, over-qualified for the job. So they hired a man. Yet another string of interviews planned for this week. Going to play with animating a shark sequence to chill out.... F@*#!

Alfonso Mucha, my most influential artist, shall be tattooed on my back sooner or later. I decided this today while at the beach. I am trying to decide from these three panels )

I think any of these would look beautiful, tasteful and feminine, just like Sarah Bernhardt, in any style of clothing. Including formal wear. Whatcha think?

Two things
04:33pm 22/05/2006

mood: artistic
Number One: I saw this hat and it made me think of so many of you, namely Steve, Lorra and Ashley:

If I ever figure out colorwork knitting, you may all get rad gifts of pirate hats.

Number Two: Who wants to join me for an evening with the animator of 'Ren & Stimpy'?

There will be a screening of uncut works from the show, as well as other short animations. Afterwards there is a gallery show and schmoozing. Seems like fun.

I find a job listing for a photographer that I am excited about (and qualified to perform). Then I see an additional note at the bottom saying, "Must be able to read, speak and write Hebrew."

I am now officially jealous of all the Jewish friends out there. You special, special people. :(

Just a quick note until the jet lag wears off...

CONGRATULATIONS to my lovely Lorra and Steve on their graduations this weekend from university!!!

I'm stoked for the both of you and I know you will lead fabulous lives with your well-deserved degrees in hand. (You would have a congrats card in hand if they hadn't snuck into my luggage for Jamaica before I could get them to you... expect them in the mail this week, wonderful ones.) I love you guys- now go kick some ass!

I'm outta here!

mood: pleased
music: "Lost" is like crack
Ahh, the days of procrastination... what happened to them? I have 6 hours until my flight, 4 hours until I need to be at LAX, and I actually have time to relax and watch a few episodes of Alias and Lost. I packed last night, got all of my music ready, ran my errands, went to the bank, ate a sammich for dinner... and I somehow have time remaining. I miss procrastination. At least then my time was used in its entirety... I never know what to do with myself.

I'll be away from tonight through May 1. Need to reach me? Email won't be returned until after the wedding (22nd), and even then I'll have little time to check it since family will be crunching time before I head to Jamaica for the remainder of the trip. I'll have the cell in Florida, and I should see most of you in St. Augustine anyway, but I'll be scarce. That feels good, to be virtually unreachable.

For those of you who believe in Jesus Christ, have a happy easter eating chocolate bunnies while remembering His crucifixtion. For the rest of you, I'll talk to you in a few weeks.

  Hug O'War

"I will not play at tug o'war.
I'd rather play at hug o'war,
Where everyone hugs
Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.

I am a second-time aunt today. It's official. Keelin Siobhan Reeves was born today at 10:16 am EST and is 7 lbs. 5 oz. She has yet to open her eyes and has little to no hair. I am excited to meet her in April. Go smoke a cigar everybody! :D (More pics in Photobucket under "babies")

Also, thanks for all the support with the job interview, guys. Now that I am a proud aunt twice over I think I have the juice I need to kick ass at the interview...tomorrow. Hooray! (It is pushed back due to the hellish rain near the beaches aaaannnnndddd some new clients that showed up last-minute. Ooh, I can't wait!)

Good news
03:29pm 27/03/2006

mood: excited
music: nine inch nails- only
I have an interview with Digital Domain tomorrow and this has made me giddy to the point of dancing around the house and talking to my nephew for a quarter of an hour about the new Curious George movie and Ice Age 2. (Also, note the run on sentences.) I want this job. I want it more than I have ever wanted any other job. This gig could get me into the exact position I need to be in for my CalArts experimental animation application this coming fall. The thought of working at one of the industry's leading visual effects and animation studios makes me want to have a big CGI orgy. Wrap your brain around that idea.

The best thing about the gig, other than having a regular paying job that is creatively fulfilling at a company that has won at least 4 Academy Awards, is that it is not just an interview for a gopher/runner Production Assistant job. That is what I applied for but they called to say that they want me in the office asap to interview for an Assistant Production Coordinator position in their feature film department. This means that I would be working on "Instant Karma", the new film from the writers of "Shrek" fame. Rock... my... socks. It's even worth driving all the way to Venice Beach every day... meaning that I'll have to wake up at 530 to leave at 6 so I can beat traffic and knit before work. Or mess around on one of their pimp Macs. Sweet.

Anywho, can you guys try to send crazy-fabulous vibes my way at about 230 Pacific/530 Eastern time tomorrow? I could use not being between gigs and in my field for once. ;)
